Studio Policies

Overview

Studio policies exist to ensure a clear, mutually respectful arrangement — outlining expectations before we begin working together.

The attendance policy exists because lesson time is reserved specifically for you and can't be resold if missed. When you book a slot, it's unavailable to others, and I may have turned away other students to hold it. That reserved time is your commitment.

Please read these policies carefully. By keeping your lesson, you are agreeing to them in full. Students who do not agree to these policies will not be permitted to continue lessons.

Studio Lesson Policy

Please read carefully. By booking a lesson, you agree to these terms in full.

Scope

These policies apply exclusively to students booking privately with my independent studio. Students enrolled through an affiliated organization are governed by that organization's policies and should not book private lessons during standard business hours.

Payment

All lessons are prepaid and non-refundable except in the case of instructor cancellation.

  • Monthly students are invoiced at the start of each month. Your spot is reserved by the instructor via Calendly before the month begins and must be paid by the first lesson of that month.

  • Individual bookings are available via Calendly based on availability. Payment is due at the time of booking.

Reserved Weekly Spots

A reserved weekly spot is a dedicated time held exclusively for you — one that other students cannot access for the duration of your enrollment. Holding that spot is a commitment.

Reschedules, make-up lessons, and refunds are not available for student-side conflicts — including illness, travel, scheduling conflicts, or personal emergencies.

This policy exists out of fairness: other students who wanted that time were turned away because it was reserved for you.

The One-Time Monthly Adjustment (consistent-slot students)

  • Because lessons are scheduled at the beginning of each month, one scheduling adjustment per month is available — but only if requested at or before the time of monthly scheduling. If you know you will miss a lesson in the upcoming month, you must communicate this before the month's schedule is finalized.

  • Conflicts communicated after scheduling is complete cannot be accommodated.

Make-Ups & Rescheduling

Make-up lessons and rescheduling are not available for student conflicts. They are available only when the instructor cancels. In that case, a make-up or credit will always be provided.

One-Off/Individual Appointments

For single lessons booked via Calendly: if a booking was made in error, contact the instructor within 24 hours of booking to make a change. This is available once per 30-day period. This only applies to students who do not have a consistently reserved time.

Attendance & Punctuality

Please arrive on time. Late arrivals will not receive extra time. If you expect to be late, notify the instructor as soon as possible. If there is no contact within 10 minutes of the scheduled start time, the lesson will be considered a no-show and forfeited.

Instructor Cancellations

If the instructor cancels and rescheduling is not possible, a credit or refund will be issued upon request. If the instructor is late, you will always receive your full lesson duration.

Questions about these policies? Please reach out before booking — once a spot is reserved, these terms apply in full.

Student Policies

General Policies

"Client" refers to the student and any parent, guardian, or associated party.

Borrowed Materials

Students are responsible for all borrowed materials. Sheet music must be returned within one week unless otherwise specified. Lost or damaged materials are the client's financial responsibility.

Payment

Lessons must be paid by the invoice due date. Unpaid lessons may be cancelled by the instructor. Late payments incur a $5/day fee until paid. Additional measures may be taken for delinquent accounts.

Professionalism

Clients are expected to maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Harassment or violent behavior may result in immediate lesson termination without refund. Students should stand during voice lessons and listen attentively without speaking or singing over the instructor.

Recording

The instructor may record and privately archive lessons for review and feedback purposes.

Home Studio

Clients are expected to respect the instructor's home, property, and belongings. Clients may be held liable for damages caused by misconduct.

Parking is available in unmarked guest spots. The instructor is not liable for vehicle damage or towing resulting from improper parking.

A friendly, obedience-trained dog named Cinnamon will be present in the studio. Please be aware of any allergies and interact with her respectfully. The instructor and dog assumes no liability for injuries resulting from client aggression or disrespect toward the dog.

Instructor Policies

Consent & Inclusion

Hands-on techniques will always be used with your consent. The instructor is committed to a safe, inclusive environment — respecting preferred names, pronunciations, and pronouns. If any song or topic causes discomfort, please communicate this and adjustments will be made.

Recordings

You may record lessons for personal use only. Recordings may not be posted publicly.

Performance Readiness

The instructor will assess your readiness before any competition or recital. Participation is at the instructor's discretion.

Pet Policy

The instructor's friendly, well-trained dog, Cinnamon, may be present during lessons. The instructor will guide appropriate interactions.

Communication

The instructor reserves the right to communicate with client contacts or emergency services regarding progress, behavior, safety, health, or payment as needed. Email communication will be limited to lesson-relevant material only.
