Houston Grand Opera (HGO) will be presenting Kevin Puts's "Silent Night" in early 2026.

Inspired by true events, Kevin Puts's Pulitzer Prize-winning opera "Silent Night" tells the poignant story of the spontaneous Christmas Eve truce among French, Scottish, and German soldiers during World War I. Amidst the brutal reality of trench warfare, a shared moment of carols, gift exchange, and even soccer emerges in "no man's land." This powerful and multilingual opera highlights the enduring humanity that can blossom even in the darkest of times, and the tragic consequences when it's suppressed by the machinery of war.
